Porzingis suffered the injury early in the third quarter. It appeared to be a noncontact injury. He asked out of the game immediately after suffering the injury, which occurred while defending Brooklyn’s Rondae Hollis Jefferson.
Any time missed by Porzingis would be a significant blow to the Knicks. The 22-year-old entered play Thursday averaging 26 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game and was a key reason New York was one game over .500 entering the game against Brooklyn.
Porzingis missed two games earlier this season due to a sprained right ankle.
